The weather is amazing today. It crashed and roared and poured rain all night last night, but this morning all is well and bright. We spend some time awake, weather watching, at 3am this morning. My baby boy slept like a rock through the whole mess, but Quinn and I enjoyed the sound of the rain trees outside our windows. Rain always sounds like the purest worship chorus of all time and it makes my heart rejoice to hear the "heavens declaring the glory of God."
The second half of April was mostly spent out of doors- as you'll see by the set of pictures that will follow this post. Gavin loves his backyard as much this spring as he did this past fall- we open the door in the morning and he only comes inside for food and naps...
...except on potty training days. We started that a week ago yesterday- 5 days of very positive reinforcement later he's back in diapers because yesterday we were out of the house most the day and tomorrow we're leaving for a five day float. *sigh* He's getting the general idea, though, and he's young enough that we're keeping it super light hearted at this point.
Gavin's green rocking chair has somehow migrated to the living room. It clashes terribly, but I'm loving having the extra chair sitting around. I'll be on the lookout for a basic rocker that I can replace it with so that the jungle green/giraffe print atrocity can move back into the vine and palm tree infested room that it came from.
Tabbi is reading "The Circle Maker" right now, and I've been perusing my "One Thousand Gifts" copy that Quinn got me last year, so we've been discussing the power of prayer and an attitude of gratefulness this morning. It's very hard to balance the perspectives of A)Our relationship with Christ is based in our attitude of worship in every day life and B)Intense, all consuming prayer for hours each day is the only way to achieve a victorious Christian life. Both are integral to the survival of the other and both greatly strengthen the Christian's personal walk.
Needless to say, we're looking forward to swapping books in the next week or two. ;)

Even if they come for us,
Everything, it turns to dust,
You and I are never going down,
Bullets and the bombs of love,
Go ahead and fire at us,
We are never givin' up,
We're not gonna fall now,
We're not gonna bleed out,
Never gonna break down. -Daughtry
