Log In Wars

Quinn's little laptop is shot. The poor thing is just so tired and falling apart, but Quinn keeps nursing it along, one day at a time... but only when he has to. That means that anytime I'm not using the main computer, he is. That means that he logs every one of my accounts OUT, and logs every one of his accounts IN, at least twice a day on his work days, and over and over and over  on his off days. That means that I'm constantly opening pages and starting to operate them according to my objectives, only to find that I'm only messing up his objectives! *sigh*

We need another computer.

Quinn and I got to celebrate our 2nd anniversary last week. We had a fantastic time. time. Quinn would have preferred a romantic hotel suite and some lavish gifts over the movie/sushi night and camping trip that we went with, but we're hanging onto every spare penny  so as to be able to make our down payment on the the 15th, so our $50 date and $40 camping trip seemed more appropriate. I couldn't have asked for more fun, or precious times. The movie was good, the sushi excellent, the campsite gorgeous, the water cold and the river clear. Quinn's account of our couple of days, and some fun pictures that he took with his phone are on his blog, so I'll leave this narration short and sweet and go on to other topics...

...Like anniversary gifts!  I received two VERY special, gorgeous gifts from precious women in my life for this year's anniversary. One was a beautiful cross-stitch that my Mom hand crafted and had professionally framed for me, and the other was a "wedding heart afghan" that a dear lady from our church made for me. I don't know how either of them found time to put so much work into me, but I'm soooo glad. It made my heart very happy. :)

Other news; weeell- the sellers on our house got a couple quotes on the HVAC repair that needed done, and decided to pay an extra thousand to go with the reputable company over the cheap quote. This, however, means that the company wasn't able to get in until today to pull the heater, and now they have to take five days to get a permit from the city to put a new one in.  That means the heater can't go back in until Monday, so the inspectors and appraisers can't get in until Wednesday, and we can't close until NEXT Friday morning. I suppose, in the long run, giving up a week of moving time for excellent work quality is worth while, though it's stressing/stretching our brains just a bit.

Quinn was able to trade his Thursday for that Friday, so that he'll work Thursday and we can close first thing Friday morning, then clean and paint all day, but then we'll only have two more of his off days and one Sunday evening before we have to be out of the apartment. I think we're gonna have to give up some of the little things we wanted to do (like painting the fireplace and replacing the bathroom vanity and running wiring to the living room ceiling for a light/fan) and JUST clean and paint ceilings before we move stuff over. That's a little frustrating for me, as I don't care to move into a place that I don't feel like is ready to live in, but I'll get over it.

ALSO, Quinn sold his pickup truck. It wasn't wanting to start without being primed, so he pulled the carburetor and cleaned/rebuilt it and now it starts and runs pretty much perfectly. The guy he sold it to had just moved from Arizona and was needing a truck and horse trailer so his wife could get a horse. It was sad  to part with it, but that gave us the cash for all of our moving expenses and to help recoup our emergency fund from the downpayment costs.

The man who bought the truck had a sad story, about a pediatrician misdiagnosing his little boy for TWO YEARS and trying all sorts of medications and stuff, until one day the little boy collapsed on the ground and couldn't stand back up. They went to the ER and the doctor on call did ONE blood test and was able to see that the boy had advanced leukemia. It was so advanced that they were completely unable to save him. The dad ended up in jail after being pulled off of the pediatrician by police.

I probably would have been in prison for life...

Turns out that that pediatrician had misdiagnosed 8 other children with similar cases and had his license revoked, so he moved to California and started a new practice.  The parents of the little boy got divorced and the man is now living in a different state with a second wife. I can't imagine coping any other way without Jesus.

Too sad.

Grateful to Jesus this morning- after 72 hours of taking ridiculous amounts of over-the-counter pain killers to try to control a migraine wanna-be, I woke up headache free this morning! I was so excited to get my day started when I opened my eyes and could see without spots and dizzyness! Yesterday I was really starting to worry, 'cause I spent most the day on the couch/in bed, seriously nauseated from the pain. That's not normal for me...  but my Jesus made it better, as He is prone to do, and today I get to take on 3 days worth of dishes and unsorted laundry and try to recover my lost work hours.
Off to work now. Gavin's asleep and I should have been rating instead of writing, but this update was overdue.

Ttyl!

Listening to the song we used to sing
In the car, do you remember
Butterfly, Early Summer
It's playing on repeat, Just like when we would meet
Like when we would meet

Cause I was born to tell you I love you
and I am torn to do what I have to, to make you mine
Stay with me tonight
