Nevermind that I'm frying potatoes in butter and making shredded bbq beef on white bread for dinner...
And that I just ate half a package of strawberry jello...
I was always so sure that I would eat extra healthy when I was pregnant, just 'cause I could. I've been a salad junkie for years, being thrilled at the idea of a platefull of greens and tomatos with some chicken and cheese as an entire meal. I've always snacked on fruit slices or veggies when we've had them around, and yet...
Salads gag me. I can still order one at a restaurant and enjoy every bite, but any salad here at the house is rebelling against my basic abilities, such as chewing and swallowing, within three or four bites.
I did eat a pile of celery sticks dipped in peanut butter yesterday.
Taking down the Christmas cards and taping up Quinn's birthday cards this evening. He turned 25 last week. A Quarter of a century. Seems so old, but it's soooo young.
Birdie's nose is bleeding again. She'll be spending every night by the humidifier in the bed room from now on. She's decided to adopt a second perch recently. She loves the chain on the hanging Tiffany in the dining room. I've been trying to convince her to spend more time there and less time in front of the heater vent in her normal spot; on the rod over the sliding doors.
Quinn took the last two hours of the evening off so that he could study tonight for his test Monday morning, so we're gonna head downtown for some coffee (okay, so chai tea or a smoothie for me...) at about 8. It'll be so nice. Today has practically been a day off. We were up by 9, out the door by 10:30, he didn't go into work until 1 and will be home by 8! Such a wonderful time...
This morning we went for coffee and bagels at Fog City Coffee. We'd never been in there, so we didn't really know what to expect. The barista was sleepy and bored when we showed up, but her customer service was impeccable and she made the yummiest, richest chocolate raspberry cappuccino I have ever tasted. Quinn was thrilled with his "Fog Lifter" and my cinnamon raisin bagle with Philidelphia cream cheese was perfect. I have a feeling that we'll be going back.
While we were there someone came in with no clue what she wanted, but through suggestions and questions she was taken from a generic "latte" to a custom flavored drink before she knew what had happened. She paid, dropped a tip in the jar, and sipped her drink on the way out the door. She stopped in her tracks, looked at her steaming cup with a funny expression and released a delighted sigh.
That's how a coffee shop is supposed to work.
Signing out for now. I want to blitz the house before my evening disappears.
God bless!
In Your Kingdom broken lives are made new, You make us new
'Cause when we see You, we find strength to face the day
In Your Presence all our fears are washed away, washed away
Hosanna, hosanna!
You are the God Who saves us, worthy of all our praises
Hosanna, hosanna!
Come have Your way among us
We welcome You here, Lord Jesus
