I Have This Random Urge To Shop NBC...

Maybe because there are dead  leaves on the ground and I always shop for winter boots there...

Maybe because the ravens are cawing and the ground smells dead and the breeze is all lazy and unmotivated and my mind is screaming at me that it's time to get out the jackets and turtleneck...

But it's 102 degrees outside and we're only a few weeks into summer.

I pray this drought ends soon. My garden is shriveling up and dying. I've given up on watering it because even watering it early morning and late evening my vegetables were shriveled and bitter. Now it's just slowly sinking to the ground. There are a few stubborn little tomatoes trying to turn red. They might make it and I might pick them and eat them... we'll see.

My Gavers-boy is still growing. He'll be two next month and he's about as clever as they come. And as stubborn. He knows where everything in the house belongs -- I had to designate one of the lower kitchen cupboards for plastic dishes because he wanted so badly to help me dry and put dishes away but I couldn't let him handle the glass things. So now he has his own cupboard.

He knows whose laundry is whose as well. When I'm folding laundry he'll come in and sort the basket into piles of "Aagin," "Mom," and "Dad."  And he always gets it right. Even the socks. Kinda crazy.

He's been sleeping with his dump truck lately. I still can't figure that one out.

And he eats like a little piggy. All day, everything I'll give him. Last night before bed he had 3 slices of baked oatmeal and a big cup of milk, and that was after a huge dinner of shredded pork and green beans. He loves food.

And he's decided that he can wag his finger at me and say "Mom, NO!"  Yeah. Well. Um. We're working on that.

Quinn and I are doing P90X Lean.  Were on Day 7. I've gained a pound, but I'm not complaining. I love it. We switched to the Lean workout because the traditional uses more of the weight routines and less of the cardio, and I can't do weights. They kill my arms. The first day we worked out was a weights day and the next day I couldn't even hold onto Gavin's sippee cup because my hands were so numb. Not cool.

BUT, 6 days later, after switching to Lean, I just spent 30 minutes playing the piano without any more pain than usual! YEAH!  I can rock this. ;)

Blowin bubbles!

I'm trying to catch up on the house a bit today. Since the bedrooms are the only area that are under 85 degrees, I've been letting it go to pot so I could stay back here. I just did a sinkful of dishes, two loads of laundry and prepped the floor for mopping, though, so it should be looking spiffy again before Quinn gets home.

Max is a MESS. He's started getting some mats in his undercoat again and I can't get them to brush out. Since bathing him only makes them worse I've been holding off until I get around to taking him to the groomer. Thus he has been nearly 3 weeks without a bath. Gross. He doesn't smell bad, though, and even though he's dirty, his coat is still soft. I'm pretty impressed, honestly.

We've been leaving him home a lot more. We put up a gate in the hallway so he can't get to the bedrooms and leave the patio door slid open 6 inches so he can squeeze in and out. So far he hasn't destroyed anything or made any messes, though he has left dusty paw prints on the couch a couple of times. He hears our car on the street and is always standing at the window on the back of the couch when we pull in the drive. He loves us more than we love him, I'm afraid.

Could you tell that face "no?"
Our diet at this point is pretty odd, honestly. P90X requires a lot more calories than most diets. They want you to do anything to avoid letting your body slip into starvation mode for even an hour because as soon as that happens you stop healing and start surviving. Working out 40-80 minutes a day means that you have to be healing for the other 1360 minutes or you are too sore and damaged to do the next workout.

We asked prayer at church that the Lord would bless us with baby number 2. For those of you who don't know, we've been trying for a year now and have had one super early miscarriage. I've been seeing my OB and he's been running some bloodwork and has me charting BBT, but all we've been able to do is guess from my charts that my estrogen is too high, so I've been using the Arbonne Prolief cream to rebalance. We're praying that helps... We *really* wanted Gavin to have a sibling before he turned 2, but now we're praying he has one before he turns 3.  God knows what He's doing, though, and we know that the next Hampster will be here when He decides it's time.

Video:  Yes, he's always this cute...
